There's a special feel to its atmosphere. So yeah, the Shadow Man IP is in complete limbo.Īnyway, as for the game itself, yeah it's just so good. The last thing I can think of is that it might have been re-acquired by Valiant Comics. I know that Nightdive Studios (the guys who made the Turok 1 and 2 remasters on Steam) seem to have some rights to do something about it since they did post on Twitter back in 2018 that Shadow Man on the Switch was a possible thing. There's only a few handful companies right now who may have the rights to do something for Shadow Man and I can only see THQ Nordic, Throwback Entertainment and maybe Liquid Media Group (a list of acquired IPs was published about a year ago that Liquid Media got, but I recall looking at it and not seeing Shadow Man anywhere). The information concerning the IP transfers since the Acclaim's bankruptcy has been lost in time and paperwork. But then Acclaim went bankrupt and sold IPs, but there's never been any mention of Shadow Man specifically. I'm not sure if at the time Valiant simply sold the whole IP to Acclaim. Even though Shadow Man itself is from Valiant Comics. In fact as of now I'm not even sure who owns the IP. Truly, I only wish Shadow Man wasn't a forgotten franchise. Just use the God of War engine and send me back to Deadside, it would be glorious. But what I really want is a remake, in the style of what happened to RE2 Remake and what's about to happen with FF7. Star wars jedi knight ii jedi outcast windowed mod full#A full fledged remaster made by a larger team with more budget may be something interesting though. ![]() nothing, it probably didn't sell enough I'd guess. Star wars jedi knight ii jedi outcast windowed mod ps2#Heck, even the sequel on PS2 was pretty solid, not as good as the first but still pretty good really. To be honest I've been wishing and waiting for a remake of Shadow Man for ages and it's still to this day something I think may simply never happen it's a forgotten franchise. And THAT is how I'd envision a new take on Shadow Man and it would be _F_'ING amazing for me. And I know exactly how I'd want the game to be like and on which engine it should be made with: God of War (2018)'s environments, effects, mechanics, seamless transitions between 'cutscenes' and gameplay, somewhat 'over-the-shoulder' point of view. I guess I'm in the right mood for it.Īlso, this game needs a proper Remake. I jumped back in a few times in between but never went past the intro for some reason. Maybe more, all I know is that the last time I played it entirely was on my Dreamcast back when Mass Effect 2 was about a month away from release and wanted to occupy my mind with other things in the meantime and that was around 2010. ![]() I just got to the beginning of Deadside and it's actually the first time I'm about to (most likely) fully replay this game in about 10 years or so. That, for me, is my ultimate cue to know if a game 'aged well' or not (especially in the cases of early 3D games which are often known to be very 'rough' today, at least to look at, if anything). ![]() I mean there's definitely 15 polygons on Mike (the protagonist) but I'm still somehow absorbed by the game's atmosphere and ambiance that I manage not to care one bit about that stuff. I'm usually not a fan of going back to 'Early 3D' games, but there are some very specific ones that still grab me enough to keep playing them about as much as I did back when they were new. And I must say, outside of having to acclimate myself with the controls again (they do feel clunky at first) this game still shines bright in my heart. ![]() Star wars jedi knight ii jedi outcast windowed mod mod#However, I discovered an unofficial fan-made 20th Anniversary 'remaster' mod that helps fix some stuff and improve many of the textures.ĭespite the fact that it's possible to configure the game to run on Keyboard and Mouse, it's definitely still preferable to play it on a controller. I've been replaying Shadow Man recently, one of my all time favorites. ![]()
